about endometriosis

Endometriosis is a painful condition that occurs in women, attributed to the endometrial cells lining the uterus leaving the uterus and moving to other parts of the body. This is caused by hormones stimulating endometrial cells, similar to menstruation. The result is deposits composed of blood from these cells accumulating to create scar tissue and causes extreme pain and is a major condition of infertility.

Massage therapy is considered to be an effective method for dealing with the pain associated with endometriosis. This massage is performed by our Asian Bodywork Therapist who uses a specific massage technique on the abdominal areas to help alleviate the pain and break up the scar tissue. A regular massage program can not only help to alleviate the pain, but may also be used for prevention of more serious conditions and potentially eliminate the need for surgical procedures.
